چکیده
Sustainable agriculture has been identified as key to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Development Goals, which aims end poverty and hunger address climate change while maintaining natural resources. Soil organic carbon (SOC) sequestration is a soil function ecosystem services, storing (C) in by changing traditional management practices can represent an important step toward development of more sustainable agricultural systems Europe. Within European project Diverfarming, process-based model ECOSSE was modified evaluated four long-term experiments (>8 years) assess impact crop diversification SOC dynamics. able simulate under dry conditions Mediterranean regions Spain Italy. In site Murcia, Spain, addition manure cover diversified produced increase 9 years, when compared with conventional (16% measured increase, 32% simulated increase). Experiments modeling showed that loss compensated introduced A good agreement (NRMSE <10%) nonsignificant bias observed between experimental data all sites. This study demonstrated ability version dynamics cropping systems, various climatic conditions.

The expansion and intensification of agroecosystems worldwide has significantly affected the environment at multiple spatial scales (Matson et al., 1997). Agroecosystem effects on atmospheric constituents have altered local, regional, and global environmental quality through windblown soil (Zhang et al., 2001) and emission of particulate matter, reactive N (e.g., NH3 and NOx), volatile organic ...
متن کاملNo-tillage increases soil profile carbon and nitrogen under long-term rainfed cropping systems
Emphasis and interest in carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) storage (sequestration) in soils has greatly increased in the last few years, especially C with its’ potential to help alleviate or offset some of the negative effects of the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Several questions still exist with regard to what management practices optimize C storage in the soil profile. A long-ter...
متن کاملEnhanced top soil carbon stocks under organic farming.
It has been suggested that conversion to organic farming contributes to soil carbon sequestration, but until now a comprehensive quantitative assessment has been lacking. Therefore, datasets from 74 studies from pairwise comparisons of organic vs. nonorganic farming systems were subjected to metaanalysis to identify differences in soil organic carbon (SOC). We found significant differences and ...

In recent decades, climate change and global warming have become to one of the critical global challenges that have attracted the attention of researchers. Knowing the effects of climate change on soil carbon can be used as the best tools regarding to understand the soil carbon cycle, therefore, this study was carried out to investigate and compare the amount of carbon storage in different clim...
